CopplestonThis signifies the marriage of Sir John Bampfield of Poltimore to Gertrude,
daughter of Amias Copleston (q.v. shield 7) in Tamerton Foliot on the outskirts
of Plymouth on 3rd May 1632. He was son of the John Bampfield whose marriage
is depicted on the opposite wall at Kitley (q.v. shield 44) and was MP for
Penryn, created a Baronet 1641, and it was his daughter, Grace, who married
Sir William Bastard, Knight (q.v. shield 9).
Introduction
