StretchleyOnce again, the established Pollexfen pedigree(s) in previously published sources are woefully lacking in information respecting the marriage signified by this impalement, recording only that the marriage was to an unknown Strecthley (or Strechley, Strachleigh &c) daughter, at an unknown date. The marriage has now been positively identified as having been that of John Pollexfen, son of John (q.v. shield 10), to Johane Strechleigh. An approximate date of c1592 can also be assigned to the marriage, for the first son of the couple is now known to have been born in 1593.
As was discovered during the research, many of the principals in the main
Pollexfen branches from this period are missing from the established pedigree(s)
of Vivian and others. It was in fact the investigations into the marriage
denoted by the next impalement at Kitley (q.v. shield 12) which first highlighted
that something was seriously amiss with these sources, and which prompted
more extensive research into the genealogy of the family, which in turn led
ultimately to the discovery of the true role of the Pollexfens in the history
of Kitley itself.
